On Being Different

When the erudite contrive to negate the beauty of a song
Or the carefree luster of improbable behavior
As a merger of similar events, equal in real proportion
Attempting to placate the naysayers in their worried, uninspired, boring wisdom
Is a compromise like death
For it denies self

Like a child’s giggle when it plays havoc on the ears
Or the romantics notion of romance that negates morning breath
Its the truth that congers up memories of what once was but so seldom is

When conformity has won
And right habits control
Patterns of life’s effervescence
Can no longer be found close to our magnetic being
And the magic button becomes an ill conceived illusion
